The ringmaster of an adult circus fears his event's posse of "killer clowns" may have partly inspired a nationwide craze of people dressed as clowns committing crime and frightening the public.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary said at the weekend it would treat the clown craze "robustly" and that it was being addressed at the "highest level".
It follows reports of people dressed as clowns terrorising residents of the south Somerset town of Yeovil.
