A criminal scam is targeting empty homes to make money by using fake documents.
Fraudsters take names from published obituaries and then carry out research using the Land Registry to identify vulnerable empty properties.
They then organise fake documents to register on the electoral database and with utility providers to apply for mortgages and loans.
